March 2015

Howdy everyone!

Hope your March Mystery Chocolate Box guesses weren’t as busted as your NCAA bracket 🙂

We’ll reveal the bars that were in this month’s box in a minute, but before we do, there are 3 important upcoming announcements that you should be looking out for:

  1. Updated summer shipping. We mentioned this in the letter in this box. This is a very important issue, and one that we have spent months agonizing over in order to come up with the best solution for you. This should be out later today…stay tuned!
  2. Remember what we said in the letter about rewarding correct guesses? Expect this soon…very exciting things here!

Ready to see what was in the March 2015 box? Let’s take a look!

Bar A

I love the dark chocolate in this bar, it’s the first thing you notice about it — from the smell when you open the wrapper to your first bite. Shortly after you sink your teeth into this bar and taste the smooth dark chocolate, you taste something salty… and then crunchy. There’s something nutty, but by the time finish eating each piece of chocolate, you never really get to explore the crunchy ingredient. It kind of dissolves along with the chocolate. So, you know there’s something in this bar adding that crunch, and you can see it, but it’s actually fairly difficult to tell exactly what it is.

So, let’s see what it is!

Pistachios! That’s what the crunch is.

Bar B

Biting into Bar B might remind you of another popular, mainstream chocolate bar. But, with much higher quality dark chocolate. There’s definitely something crunchy in this bar as well. However, there’s actually a twist to this bar, something a little different. We’ll talk about that shortly…

Dark Chocolate with Crispy Rice by Lily’s Sweets

Did this bar remind you of a Nestle Crunch? That’s what it reminded us of the most. However, about that twist…

This bar actually has less than 1 gram of sugar per serving! And less than 2 grams in the entire bar. That’s because it’s sweetened with stevia. (However, while stevia is the only sweetener that Lily’s mentions on the wrapper, there are actually 5 grams of Erythritol, a sugar alcohol, per serving.)

Still, a pretty healthy chocolate bar overall!

Bar C

You know, we didn’t include three crunchy bars on purpose. While not as crunchy as the others, there is a bit of crunchiness in this bar. But, this is a milk chocolate bar, and it starts melting as soon as you put it in your mouth. It’s fantastic.

The crunch is almost salty, but not quite. It blends perfectly with the milk chocolate.

Milk Chocolate with Butterscotch by Butlers

Most interesting thing to note here: Butlers’ tagline. “Purveyors Of Happiness”. That’s pretty great, isn’t it?

We’re actually mad they came up with that before we did, because we think it describes what we do perfectly. However, you can just think of us as the “Deliverers of Joy”. 🙂

 So that’s it for March!

How did you like it? Let us know below. And look forward to the April box!

Interesting 🙂 I thought the chocolate in the pistachio bar was very good, although I can see how you might not like the pistachios. The stevia one is definitely non-traditional — personally, I liked it, but it did have a different taste.

Got something to say?
